This Dodge Caravan was one of my favorite cars at Lemay. It was so strange to see a car like this in just perfect condition.
Me last night when I logged onto Oppo. Lets keep it about cars and occasional personal posts.

That is pretty damn incredible.
Gonna leave this here for LongVoyager:

Bad Kinja, stop repeating everything I say!

I’m still in awe of this Voyager from my apartment complex in Houston:
Can’t really tell from the pic, but it was immaculate (and a low-end model too, note that lack of headrests).
The owner moved (I think to a complex across the street), but I did see it driving around post-Harvey, so hopefully it avoided getting flooded, and certainly wasn’t killed by the storm.

If I had unlimited funds, I always thought it would be fun to completely restore some utterly forgettable pedestrian vehicle. But it’s appropriate for that Caravan to be in a museum. It was a game changer.

My aunt and uncle had a SWB van with a manual transmission when I was little. Wish I remembered it better.

Yes, I was surprised to see that myself late last night.
Sometimes, children just need a timeout.

TIL in the 80s: you could get one with no headrests, a turbo and a five-speed.
TIAL
: The first teenager to get their hands on it will crash it into a phone pole.

I think Long-Voyager will have the shakes, too!

I’m not so sure he’d be into this. He tends to buy really crappy ones, then fix/mod the hell out of them.

What’s crappy about a good running Voyager with no rust that just needs a quick respray for $650?

A woman in my town daily drives one of those (white, even - but with wood sides), defying all explanation. It’s in excellent shape from the looks of it. She cannot possibly drive it in the winter.
It’s like, she bought it when she had kids, and just never sold it. Her kids are now around 40 and have their OWN kids who are nearly teenagers. And she keeps driving the Voyager.

That must have taken either meticulous maintenance or she’s just been willing to sink whatever needed in repairs. My uncle had a 1st gen Voyager that he kept about 16 years or so, but went through three engines and two transmissions in that span. It still looked nearly new cosmetically, though.

I’ll ask her about it sometime. I wouldn’t quite say she’s a friend, but we do know each other.

Crappy to the general masses. I mean, have you seen what I drive? A clean chassis is a clean chassis.

Well the general masses are morons, so I tend to not care what they think.
That being said, my vans have always gotten compliments, even before they were repainted to look like new.

So clean.

No V6 badge so probably a NA 4-cyl, and possibly a manual.

I believe they have a blue wood sided van in the Smithsonian.

You said Houston and I was so very afraid that Harvey had taken it. Glad to know it still lives.
